An Open Source Platform for Presenting Dynamic Visual Stimuli

چکیده
Abstract Operant behavior procedures often rely on visual stimuli to cue the initiation or secession of a response, and provide means for discriminating between two more simultaneously available responses. While primate human studies typically use Liquid-Crystal Display (LCD) Organic Light-Emitting Diode (OLED) monitors touch screens, rodent variety methods present cues ranging from traditional incandescent light bulbs, single LEDs, and, recently, screen monitors. Commercially systems stimulus presentation are costly, challenging customize, closed source. We developed an open-source, highly-modifiable platform that can be combined with 3D-printed operant response device. The device uses 8 × matrix expanded control much larger LED matrices. Implementing is low-cost (<$70 USD per in year 2020). Using platform, we trained rats make nosepoke responses discriminate distinct location-independent manner. This cost-effective way implement complex visually-guided behavior, including moving dynamically changing stimuli.

An Open-Source ITS Platform
In this report a complete system used to compute travel-times from GPS data is described. Two approaches to computing travel time are proposed one based on points and one based on trips. Overall both approaches gives reasonable results compared to existing manual estimated travel times. However, the trip-based approach requires more GPS data and of a higher quality than the point-based approach...
متن کاملSmartR: an open-source platform for interactive visual analytics for translational research data
Summary In translational research, efficient knowledge exchange between the different fields of expertise is crucial. An open platform that is capable of storing a multitude of data types such as clinical, pre-clinical or OMICS data combined with strong visual analytical capabilities will significantly accelerate the scientific progress by making data more accessible and hypothesis generation e...
متن کاملQANUS: An Open-source Question-Answering Platform
In this paper, we motivate the need for a publicly available, generic software framework for question-answering (QA) systems. We present an open-source QA framework QANUS which researchers can leverage on to build new QA systems easily and rapidly. The framework implements much of the code that will otherwise have been repeated across different QA systems. To demonstrate the utility and practic...
متن کاملAn fMRI study of human visual cortex in response to spatiotemporal properties of visual stimuli
ABSTRACT Background: The brain response to temporal frequencies (TF) has been already reported, but with no study reported for different TF with respect to various spatial frequencies (SF). Materials and Methods: fMRI was performed by 1.5T GE-system in 14 volunteers during checkerboard, with TFs of 4, 6, 8 and 10Hz in low and high SFs of 0.5 and 8cpd. Results: Average percentage BOLD signa...
